Special Inspection Services
SIGMA Engineering Laboratories Provide inspections to verify that work that is considered critical to life safety and property protection is being or has been constructed according to the approved plans and specifications in Order to insure the compliance with the code and the referenced standards adopted by the code and approved construction documents.
What Special Inspections Are Required for Your Project ? Section 1704 and 1705 of the IBC code and the adopted referenced standards cited therein outline what special inspections are required on the various types of construction and construction materials (soil, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel, structural steel, sprayed fire-resistant materials, foundations, etc.). These sections of the IBC code and the referenced standards in TANDEM with Table 1604.5 “Risk Category of Buildings and Other Structures” clarify special inspections required by the code and the degree and extent of the special inspections that should be provided (periodic and/or continuous).
Special inspections Include :
Construction Materials Testing
Reinforced Concrete Inspection
Structural Masonry Inspection
Spray-applied fireproofing inspection
Prestressed Concrete Inspection
Pre-Cast Concrete Inspection
Structural Welding Inspection
Structural Steel & Bolting Inspection
Masonry and Grout Inspection
Roofing and Waterproofing Inspection
Soil Testing/Inspection

Materials Testing Services
The laboratories we are using for materials testing at Sigma Engineering Laboratories are fully equipped with state-of-the-art testing apparatus. We own equipment’s for on-site testing of compacted soil, fresh concrete, and nondestructive steel. We are starting new upgraded laboratory equipment and training methods to keep up with industry changes in technique and technology.
Some of Our Laboratory Testing Services Include:
Soil Testing and Analysis (R-Value, Hydrometer, Specific Gravity, Compaction, Plasticity Index)
Aggregate Testing ( Qualification Testing,
Specific Gravity, Percent Crushed Particles)
Asphalt Testing (Marshall Test, Hveem, S-Value, Rice Test, Oil Content)
Concrete Mix Design Review
Compressive Strength Testing of Concrete, Grout, and Mortar
Shrinkage and Dry Unit Weight Testes of Concrete
Reinforcing Steel Tensile and Bend Testing
Geotechnical Services
Geotechnical engineering is a discipline within the broader field of civil engineering that focuses on analysing and determining earth materials’ engineering properties like soil and rock. Geotechnical engineers rely on their understanding of soil mechanics, geotechnics and rock masses to design foundations that can carry the load from a building or bridge to the soil that supports it. Subsurface conditions can vary greatly, even on different sides of a construction site, so geotechnical engineering is a very important branch of civil engineering.
Our services in subsurface exploration and analysis of existing conditions provides you with economical foundation designs and earthwork construction procedures and specifications. This service is custom designed based on the project and type of construction.

Quality Assurance QA / Quality Control QC
QA/QC is the combination of quality assurance, the process or set of processes used to measure and assure the quality of a product, and quality control, process that ensures that materials used on the project actually comply with properly signed drawings and plans.
